EMC/Shielding/Grounding Techniques for Chip & PCB Layout

This 7.5 hour seminar discusses techniques for identifying the sources of unwanted coupling and radiation, and systematic approaches for their minimization. The web presentation is given as five 90-minute sessions (see schedule below). For a preview of some of Allen Podell’s material on this subject, view the 45 minute webcast given last month in partnership with Microwave Journal magazine.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completing the course, the participant will be able to:

• Define electromagnetic compatibility.

• Identify sources of coupling and radiation.

• Discuss and simulate the effectiveness of various shielding strategies.

Target Audience:

Product and package design engineers of all expertise levels will benefit from this course. A basic engineering background (BSEE or equivalent) is required.

Featured Course: RF Measurements: Principles and Demonstration

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

This 5-day lecture-based course explains essential RF measurements that must be made on modern wireless communications equipment – cellular, PCS and 3G phones, wireless LANs, GPS navigation systems, and DBS TV. The newest models of the necessary RF test equipment will be explained and demonstrated, including vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, digitally modulated signal generators and vector signal analyzers. Video projection techniques will be used so that all participants can see complete details of the measurement screens.

FREE BOOK- Attendees in the course will receive a free copy of the recently published book RF Measurements for Cellular Phones and Wireless Data SystemsRF Measurements Book“>RF Measurements for Cellular Phones and Wireless Data Systems by Al Scott and Rex Frobenius. This book is based on the material in the course and will make an excellent reference for use after the course.
