Onsite Webinars: New Tool for Training Managers

Corporate exclusive webinars provide a great way to deliver training to groups that are spread out across the country or even around the world. Using web conferencing allows anyone with a broadband computer connection to participate in the class from wherever they work (even at home!). Since each of the five sessions lasts only 90 minutes, people can get back to their jobs each day without any major disruption to their workday. You can also arrange the schedule into fewer, longer sessions if you like. The classes are run as live, real-time web conference meetings and the students can ask questions at any time. Currently three courses are available as webinars: RF Fundamentals, EM Shielding Fundamentals, and How to Speak RF (and Wireless). Since no travel arrangements are needed for the instructor or students, webinars are quick and easy to set up. Contact our office to schedule your training, and we will take care of the rest.

Visit Us at the RWS Show in Long Beach

Start 2007 with a visit to sunny Southern California for the annual IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium. This is the second year for this show, which is partially an evolution of the RAWCON shows of the past. The 2006 show was a great opportunity for us to meet many future and past course participants and talk about upcoming public courses. The 2007 show runs January 9-11 at the Long Beach Convention Center. Be sure to stop by the Besser Associates booth (#218) in the exhibit hall and enter our drawing for a free prize.

Smith Chart Applet Update

Our Smith Chart applet on the BesserNet site has been updated with a new table that allows you to type in values for each component in addition to dragging the elements around on the chart. The table makes the task of inputting a specific value for a component much easier. The new version also displays the "Q" value on the chart, which is useful for designing broadband matching networks. This added functionality now makes the applet a suitable replacement to the EEZMatch program that has been discontinued. To learn more about using the Smith Chart you can take the Applied RF Techniques I, RF Productivity Improvement, or Wireless Circuits, Systems and Test Fundamentals courses coming up in Dallas November 13-17.

Les Besser Earns IEEE Achievement Award for Education

The IEEE Educational Activities Board has honored Les Besser with the IEEE EAB Meritorious Achievement Award in Continuing Education. The Board recognizes his “leadership, excellence in teaching, and world-wide coverage of continuing education training for RF/microwave technology at all levels, and for teaching more than 10,000 engineers in 30 years.”

This award was established by the IEEE EAB to provide recognition for dedicated contributions to the design, delivery and support of continuing education courses and programs. The award will be presented November 19 in New Orleans, LA.
