Wireless LAN Security Course Offered in Boston

Our three-day course, Security for IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN, addresses wireless local area network security in detail. Aspects of disclosure, data integrity, and denial-of-service threats are presented. Indoor RF propagation physics are used to calculate the extent of eavesdropping and jamming threats to the physical layer. The 802.11 medium access control methods are studied and the numerous threats to this layer are discussed. Next, wired equivalent privacy (WEP) is presented and its weaknesses examined in areas of disclosure, data integrity, and authentication. The IEEE 802.11i-based solutions are discussed, beginning with interim solutions such as temporal key integrity protocol (TKIP), and moving on to stronger solutions based upon the advanced encryption standard (AES). The synergism between Wi-Fi protected access (WPA) and 802.11i is demonstrated. Finally, upper layer authentication and key management as provided by IEEE 802.1X are discussed. The course will be offered this May 16-18 in the Boston area.

Next Webinar: RF Fundamentals Coming This April

Attend class without leaving your desk! Instructor Allen Podell will be presenting a live real-time webinar April 16-20 on RF Fundamentals. This course is basically the equivalent of one full day's worth of material spread out over five 90-minute sessions (Monday through Friday). Instead of traveling to the course location, you just log in from any computer with a high-speed internet connection at the time that the course starts (9AM Pacific Time). Now you can learn about RF, ask questions, view CAE examples on the instructor's computer, all with a minimal interruption in your daily schedule.

Here is what recent webinar participants have had to say about their experience:

"I liked attending it from my office. We all save a lot of money by not traveling and I think it is just as effective. You should offer more courses this way." -J.H., recent webinar participant

"I liked simulations showing why circuits behave as they do. I thought the examples were good. I think Allen is a 'natural' when it comes to explaining things. He was able to answer most of my questions very well." -A.B., recent webinar participant

New Course on De-Embedding Coming to Boston

Measuring device performance at RF and higher frequencies is complicated by the fact that inevitably you will be measuring the performance of both your device and the fixture that is used to hold the device during the measurement. Our new 3-day course, RF Fundamentals, Modeling and De-Embedding Techniques, provides technical professionals with the fundamental concepts and engineering tools needed to make accurate measurements when using test fixtures. The latest software simulation tools are used to demonstrate these concepts and techniques. The course has no prerequisites and should be of interest to test and measurement technicians and engineers who need to understand proper techniques for modeling fixtures and passive devices. The course will be offered this May 14-16 in the Boston area.

Boston Courses for May 2007

Our courses in the Boston Metropolitan Area take place in Burlington, north of downtown. The location features a hotel located across the street from the classrooms. The local transit system also offers a bus that stops in front of the hotel and travels directly to downtown attractions. Boston is a great location for sightseeing and by using the subway system, it's very easy to travel and explore on foot. If you have more than one person attending the course, you can consider sharing a two-bedroom suite from the hotel in order to reduce your accommodation costs.

Our comprehensive course on RF Transceiver Architecture, Design and Evaluation is now offered in Boston this May. This program has become very popular recently thanks to the rise in integration in wireless products. The course allows you to understand the issues that designers must face when implementing a certain protocol in the wireless portion of their systems.
