The 2009 Webinar series from Microwave Journal and Besser Associates continues with Impedance Matching by instructor Bob Froelich.
This webcast presents an introduction to impedance matching concepts. The presentation will include the following topics:
• Energy Transfer in an RF Circuit
• Conjugate Match
• Using the Smith Chart
• Match Bandwidth and Q
• Matching in Several Steps
• Transmission Line Transformers
The webinar will run Tuesday, May 19, 2009; 8:00 am PDT. Visit the Microwave Journal Resources page to view the recorded sessions of previous webcasts in the series.
This course provides circuit-level designers with the essential concepts needed to work effectively with high frequency electronics. Participants gain analytical, graphical, and computer-aided techniques to analyze and optimize RF circuits in practical situations. The course addresses linear active circuit design, focusing on stability, bandwidth, and noise considerations.
This course is taught on-line using our Web classroom format. The format consists of five 90 minute web-conference sessions spread out Monday - Friday over a one week period. The instructor's audio and presentation are delivered over the computer screen and speakers. Students can ask questions at any time via the chat window - or between sessions via email. The class times are 9:00am to 10:30am Pacific Time. Course notes are provided electronically in pdf format.

Last-minute deal for our upcoming Bluetooth course in Boston - save $100. Plus, register yourself and bring a colleague for $699 (both registrants from the same company).
This three-day course introduces and analyzes Bluetooth wireless networking, based on Bluetooth specification 2.1 + EDR (enhanced data rate). Participants begin by studying Bluetooth signal propagation characteristics, modulation, packet structure, data and audio processing, and error control. The role of the Bluetooth link manager in establishing a connection and implementing security and encryption measures are then discussed. Various higher layers in the Bluetooth protocol stack are examined such as packet segmentation and reassembly, service discovery, the host controller interface, and the implementation of application profiles. The Bluetooth qualification program is discussed. Finally, the ability of Bluetooth to coexist with other wireless networks in the 2.4 GHz band is analyzed.
